Sorry, Rules thread for (Deeds not Words)

First Post
Ok after some playing with the rules, and testing combat, i am going to run Gambit from 1st level (:D I love that guy), anyways, for Kinetic Infusion, it says that you can infuse the object and hurl it. range says touch, ok i should know this but i am getting confused for some reason. So i charge 4 cards (4 Power Points:D ) Level 1 Infusion 4d4 damage, no bonus for cards, but the point is, still touch as the range, being Range Touch Attack, to hurl the cards??

Like i said i should now this but i have a bad case of DUH today!

Range

Range touch means that you have to touch an item to charge it with kinetic energy. You can throw the item but you will have to succeed at a normal range attack.

so i could wpn focus in throwing cards??

and what do you think the range for throwing Kineticly charged playing cards would be??

As Javadragon has already said, "touch" just means that physical contact is required to charge the item to be thrown. Once charged, the item may be thrown its usual distance, which defaults to 10 ft./increment in most cases. If I were your GM, I'd let you throw charged playing cards with a 10 ft. increment. They are, after all, infused with energy and probably make a really neat noise as they zing through the air.

On a semi-related note, has anyone here ever seen a performance by Ricky Jay? He's a magician/actor who pops up in a lot of David Mamet films and also played Captain Amazing's publicist in *Mystery Men.* He can throw a playing card 190 feet at close to ninety miles an hour, and he can sink one into a watermelon from about fifteen feet. One of those things you have to see to really believe.

And yes, if you wanted to, I would see nothing wrong in taking Weapon Focus: Playing Cards. Jay also wrote a book called "Cards as Weapons." Might be worth a look...

Cheers,

Question for Scott, for Gambit, i am going to run him from 1st level, and get him to the point where he is in my other posting, but one question i have, and i know the ansewer to, but i need an executive decision. For Gambit, could he use rapidshot to get 1 extra attack with his kinetic cards?

An answer for Wikidogre...

If I was your GM, I would say yes.

However, I might also suggest the possibility that you could treat the throwing cards as shuriken, meaning you can throw up to three per attack at the same target. Ouch. I don't know if that we ever Gambit's style, though.

Cheers,

SL
