Spamming spells with wands

Adventurer
Last night my kids and I finished up Sunless Citadel (SPOILERS!)...

The BBEG is a caster with a wand of entangle. Much to my amusement (and much to the annoyance of my kids), I had him cast entangle pretty much every other round. As soon as PCs would start to get free, he'd do it again, ending the previously cast entangle and starting a new one. Entangle is one of those spells that has a strong effect (Strength Save or be restrained) and then loses its effect (difficult terrain).

The result was a fight that just went on and on and things looking bad for the PCs at several points.

What other spells might have similar results? Web, Hypnotic Pattern...Maybe Slow.

Any others?

Web could be interesting, but I think Hypnotic Pattern would just feel annoying. A lot of it depends on narrative framing, as well as what allies the wand user has, if any.

Slow hasn't gotten much play at my tables. I'd like to see my players use it more because it reduces the number of actions I take in combat, which is awesome for me. As wand spam against the PCs, I feel like it would just make combat feel unresponsive for the players. Not even tactically interesting, just meh, and not the sort of complication I would want to feature in a big bad fight.

Stinking Cloud is another spell that could be interesting to spam. Wall of Stuff spells also come to mind.
