Honestly, I'm just going with "because that's what they said on the EN Boards". It was quite a while ago. Though I don't remember the argument, I do remember that the result was "official" enough that I stopped applying my Endurance-boosted hitpoints to my poor familiar. Luckily, she's gotten by ok without them (especially once she became a Celestial).

I'm sure some lawyer around her can dig up the what's and why-fors though.
