Special dice

Im looking to buy a couple new sets of dice. I've seen them before and I should have bought them when I did.

One has 1-10 twice on a d20.
One has 11-20 twice on a d20.
One has 1-3 twice on a d6.
One has 4-6 twice on a d6.
One is a set of d6 with really strange numbers that still have the same outcomes as a normal d6.

Arent these, like, cheater dice? if the intention of your purchase is for serious use then i dont think this is a good idea.

As for the las d6 are those the kind that have a design? like dragon shaped numbers and stuff like that? if so those are ok, will take a little getting used to but are ok.

Personally i like those Crystal styled dices, they have such a cool look to them and really feel unique

I don't consider the ones he's mentioned as 'cheater dice' - - a cheating die would be something like these (which I have):

- a d6 where the 6 is replaced with a second 1 (great for old edition secret door checks!)

- a d20 where the 1 is replaced with a second 20 (criticals a poppin!)

The ones he's talking about are at best sort of unnecessary but cool....the 4-5-6 d6 is no different than just taking a regular die and adding 3 if the result is less than 4 - - useful I guess if you need to quickly and easily get results of 5-12 (roll that d6 and add a normal d6)...I know that I've run into that situation often, like when I needed to generate a random month after April, or determine how many non-cake donuts are left in a box.

The differences are so obvious that I can't imagine you using those to cheat...they're just interesting to me.

The 1-10 twice on a d20 is just a d10 in disguise
The 1-3 twice on a d6 is just a d3 in disguised (rarely used in more recent editions of DnD).

The other 2 are just wacky. As a fan of unusual gaming things, I'd pick them up.

However, I find I use the same 2 d20s over and over again. If I'm getting new dice, readability is the biggest issue for me. I prefer big, bright yellow numbers on a black die.

Regarding the weird d6s...

I don't know of anyone who manufactures them, but their faces are:

1, 2, 2, 3, 3, 4

and

1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8

They give identical probabilities to rolling two standard d6s.

As said already if the intent was to cheat with the dice I would buy the ones with 2 20s or spin down dice. I just want a few different types of dice is all.

1, 2, 2, 3, 3, and 4, and the other has faces labeled 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8.

The dice numbered like this have a special name but I cant remember what it is!
