specifics about petrification

the rules are silent on this. When a character gets petrified, does all of his equipment become petrified as well. Thus if a character carrying Stone Salve gets petrified, can the friends get it out of his pack to cure him or is his pack and all solid stone?

The Flesh to Stone spell specifies that the subject and gear turn to stone. The fact that the Petrification ability does not specifically say so could be interrelated as meaning petrification does not.

Part off topic, Flesh to Stone isn't quite what the label states, is it? One would think it'd do exactly what it says: Turn flesh into stone. I dunno where glass bottles, pieces of fruit, iron and wood come in.

Possibly (no gripes with the logic here Dandu), but there are a couple of reasons why I would not go that way, more RAI (in my mind) than RAW.
It is possible that the omission is an oversight. (Though I doubt that saying that "It does not say the clothes are not turned to stone" is a good argument) It follows the same general pattern as Flesh to Stone so maybe an exception should have been noted if it DOES NOT petrify items.
And outside of this case, I am not aware of any instances of beings undergoing petrification having their gear remain unaffected.

None of these are RAW arguments though.

from watching (and being permanently being scarred for life from) The Rocky Horror Picture Show, when the characters were "medusa"ed they lost all their clothes and turned into nude statues. Of course there wasn't much clothing to lose....

Now, I'm not saying by any means that I'm taking the movie for cannon on the issue of petrification. I would expect a movie to make any sense what so ever before I'd use it to rule on anything =)

Medusafied. The proper term is Medusafied.

And while the gear was not turned to stone, it did disappear from the statue. For example, when Columbia was Medusafied, she was turned to a nude statue, then dressed up again at the end in a corset, while her regular clothes were nowhere to be found.
