Spell-attuned PrC (ala Swiftblade)

At fifth level the Wizard has 1 3rd level spell per day (not including bonuses for high Int). Using that spell slot to cast haste once a day for the entire level wouldn't be too hard. As I recall that basically means just 13-14 encounters and the downtime between each encounter (if any).

On the other hand, trying to get in after fifth level would be increasingly more difficult. It is an interesting situation. Many ideas have been used to keep PCs from entering a PrC too early, but this is the first (really successful) idea I have seen to keep them from being taken too late (ie: at levels 15+, for a dip for an interesting ability or to fill levels with non-20-level classes (and thus avoid a multiclass penalty).

This really is a PrC that has to be taken at sixth level or not at all.

Beyond that, the idea of a spell specialist PrC is intriguing and interesting. This truly is what a PrC is about - specializing, becoming a master in a highly specific field, at the expense of other fields and perhaps a bit of the power one otherwise might have possessed (more casting levels, etc).

Invisibility is a nice idea for such, as is teleportation (and phasing through objects, etc). Telepathy has been done, although I cannot recall if it might have included a permanent Unseen Servant effect, which would have been nice, thematic, and not overpowered at all (at mid to high levels). Charm / Dominate could use one, although in theory I suppose it has already been done. Telepathy could work for one - using Sending, Demand, etc at higher levels, perhaps gaining a Wis style AC bonus against foes who are not shielded / immune to mind affecting effects. (You are sensing their intentions as they form them, giving insight in how to react before your foe even starts his action(s).)

Summoning could be an interesting focus, gaining better summons (either higher level ones early or ones typical for one's level, but enhanced in HD, saves, attacks, etc).

Light based spells could be interesting, the PC eventually becoming a permanent torch or perhaps even some invisibility traits due to bending the light around himself. That would, in fact, be superior to typical invisibility, as that is illusory as I recall (from its explanation of why it does not work against scrying). This method would work even against those immune to MAEs, as it does not involve the mind.

Transformative spells could also be interesting, such that the character gains something akin to wild shape later - a sort of master of many forms for non-druids.

Divination spells in general could be interesting as a focus, perhaps allowing any divinatory spells, but *only* spells, for the previous level. In exchange you enter a PrC that grants things such as magic sight (not quite true seeing, perhaps), a bonus to initiative due to prophetic insights, some remote viewing ability (with some limitations), etc.

This idea really has potential - spell focus based PrCs.

I took a look at that class on the website. I thought it was a neat idea, but the execution seemed rather lame to me, other than a few interesting abilities, like combining blur and haste.

As to the light based idea... Make that final ability, being invisible in light, exactly like the Bezekira, and require that in order to activate that ability, they must bind or slay one in order to study it.
