Spell Focus

Certainly, but it would do them no good unless they alos cast spells, as Spell Focus adds to the DC of spells.

They can take Ability focus, though, which adds 2 to the DC of a specific ability. It's in the MM.

Yes, they can.

It doesn't do them much good, however, since Spell Focus:

SPELL FOCUS [GENERAL]

Choose a school of magic.

Benefit: Add +1 to the Difficulty Class for all saving throws against spells from the school of magic you select.

Special: You can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time you take the feat, it applies to a new school of magic.

It has no prereqs and is a general feat, so anyone can take it - even stock human fighters.

The feat you probably want is Ability Focus:

ABILITY FOCUS [GENERAL]

Choose one of the creature’s special attacks.

Prerequisite: Special attack.

Benefit: Add +2 to the DC for all saving throws against the special attack on which the creature focuses.

Special: A creature can gain this feat multiple times. Its effects do not stack. Each time the creature takes the feat it applies to a different special attack.

So you need Ability Focus to increase the save DC of a spell-like ability? And then only one given spell-like ability at a time? Presumably Spell Focus would still be a valid prerequisite for a monster caster that wants Augment Summoning, even though for their spell-like abilities it wouldn't count?

What I was briefly interested in was using augment summoning to beef up critters summoned via Summon Demon or Summon Devil.

Augment Summoning has an effect very similar to Spell Focus, it augments creatures conjured with a summon spell.

I'd say go ahead and invent a similar feat for your demons, but which works with spell-like abilities.

Hmm. That's probably the best idea.

Thanks!

Remember that Ability Focus gives +2 to the DC, because it is, well, focused. Spell Focus is only +1 because it applies to a whole range of spells. If you make an ability to boost all a creatures SLA DCs, I'd only give them a +1.

Also, keep in mind that the Summon ability has a much longer duration that Summon Monster spells. If you allow the same benefit with augment summoning for the Summon ability, I don't think it would be balanced. I suggest further modifying it to be +2 instead of +4, with perhaps a greater agumented summoning feat for an additional +2. Just a thought.
