Per the rules for Druid's wild shape on page 172 of the A5E Adventurer's Guide, "Any equipment you are wearing or wielding merges into your new form. Equipment that merges with your form has no effect until you leave the form." Whereas 5E and D&D 2024 permit use of some equipment when wild shaping, "You choose whether your equipment falls in your space, merges into your new form, or is worn by it. Worn equipment functions as normal, but the DM decides whether it's practical for the new form to wear a piece of equipment based on the creature's size and shape. Your equipment doesn't change size or shape to match the new form, and any equipment that the new form can't wear must either fall to the ground or merge with the form. Equipment that merges with the form has no effect while you're in that form." In this context, I am proposing a feat or spell for A5E Druid's, or other shapeshifters, to be able to use their gear while shape-shifted. Reshape Gear feat Prerequisite: The ability to shape shift, whether by Druid's wild shape, lycanthropy, polymorph, or similar capability.

Your Constitution or Wisdom score increases by 1, to a maximum of 20.
When you shape shift, your equipped items reshape accordingly where possible for you to reuse them:

Armor can become barding with gaps for wings or limbs as needed.
Shield or weapon grips/attachments adjust in size for you to use them in your new form, if it is prehensile.

For example, a blade becomes strapped to an octopus arm, so that you can use it.
However, the damage dice for weapons does not change with the size of your new form.

Backpacks, belts, bracers, brooches, necklaces, rings, straps, etc., also resize to be worn by your new form.
If you prefer an item not shift for use with your new form, it drops to the ground or merges with the form, your choice.

If the new form cannot use an item, it drops to the ground or merges with the form, your choice.

For example, a crab, fish, or lion cannot wield weapons or a shield, so they would merge or drop to the ground.

Shift Gear 2nd level spell (Transmutation; enhancement, transformation) Classes: Druid; any others with shape-shifting capability Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take in response while shifting form, whether it be a voluntary shape shift or not. Range: Self Components: M - items that have been magically marked with a ritual to specify if they will reshape with you, merge with you, or drop to the ground. Duration: While shape-shifted into the new form. If functions essentially as the feat above:

This spell can be cast as a ritual. When you do so, you mark equipped items as to whether they should reshape to your new form, merge with it, or drop to the ground. You can tag your items in this manner for different forms that you can assume if some of them have different capabilities (e.g., with wild shape, or humanoid hybrid vs. animal lycanthrope form). Thoughts?
