First off, I have a 19th level sorcerer and his Cha, with a cloak at +6 is 29. But that is really off the subject of what I was intending. I didnt claim that it wasn't borken. I stated at the begining that I was playing around with this for now. Will definitely be trying different things out. What I propably will be doing, rather than playing with the point gained, is working on the cost mechanic per spell level. Maybe even adopting the mechanic out of the Psionics Handbook. That would definitely drain the number of spells at almost every level that the mage can cast. As for The paladin & Ranger thing, for one thing, being granted spells at all is a sign of the character's faith. Under core rules, if they dont have a high enough wisdom score, they cant cast spells. It is already depedent on the character to posses a 10 + Wisdom. Maybe to include those with an 11 Wis, you could give them a progression, but in order not to overload them it wouldnt be very much. If I do take to using the mechanic from the Psi Handbook, I will definitely be giving them a progression. That will propably be modeled after the progression of some of the psionic PrC in the Handbook. Lastly, anybody can have an opinion on anything. Just because somebody doesnt agree with yours, doesnt mean that it is impossible to have any other opinion. Like I mentioned before, this class has 2 prime casting rules. Using the point buy system, there wont be anybody running around with starting stats of Int & Cha of both 18. Not without having 8's in everything else. That is using the 32 point buy. You will popably want some better stats than that. Then you will ahve to choose whether you want knowledge, or raw power. If you have 18 Cha & put all increases in that, you'll be casting the hell out of alot of LOW level spells. If you up your Int with magic items, then you risk loosing the benefits sometime, then FORGETING all the spells that you know that are too high of a level for your re-adjusted Int. I never claimed this was perfect from the biginning. I said I wanted some feedback. I just explained the initial reasoning for it. Wasnt trying to argue that I created the pefect system. What I would like is ideas that are better than what I put forth. That would be constructive.
