IMC you can stick to the wall with any two limbs; as long as you're not wearing gloves or gauntlets, you can climb with your hands only.

However, if you want to do anything useful, you'll need to take your shoes off. That lets you stick with your toes, and use your hands to fight.

This may not be the place for such a comment, but it annoyed me in the Spiderman movie when they go through the trouble of showing you those little barbs springing from his fingers and then later he is wearing his costume and can still climb the walls...

Made me think of spider climb....

Do you still have to eat a spider for that spell to work??

Well, I just assumed that the hooks went through the suit and into the wall, but then I don't think too much when it comes to comic books :)

Do you really require PCs to be barefoot and barehands to take advantage of a Spider Climb spell?

Yes, you must remove your shoes. Additionally, you may
only have hands free when you stop moving (you must then
"retreive an item" to use or cast a spell, etc.)

One standard action to remove boots and leave them where
they lie or a FRA to stow them.

Not my rule (not the DM) - But then, I wear the
slippers myself ;^)

Yeah, you still have to eat the spider. My bastard of a DM actually made a player eat a spider once... just so he could get into character when casting that spell!

Luckily, he lets us use gummy spiders now.

Yes, you must remove your shoes.

So, I guess it means that you need to touch the wall with all your barefeet and barehands. Isn't it a bit uncomfortable? :) Does anybody use the Spider Climb spell at all, with this restriction? I wonder if the caster should simply remove his shoes when he enters the dungeon, and be ready...

I don't know, do you think this was made to keep the spell from being overpowered? I thought it was just an old-fashioned flavor add-on like Burning Hands' "you must keep your hands touching each others with the thumbs and spread the fingers", which if taken by the letter would mean that you need 2 hands free to cast BHs?
