[QUOTE="Hammerhead, post: 298845, member: 73"] One of my players wanted to do a Spiderman-like character. First of all, we treated the character as essentially a human monk. The Monk's movement and unarmed fighting style seemed to fit pretty well. Next, we treated magic items like superpowers. There's the cloak of arachnida for wall crawling and immunity to webs. A magic item that shoots a sticky strand that can function as a rope or entangle a subject ala Tanglefoot bags seemed to do webshooters fairly well, especially if we assume that the cloak's web 1/day power comes from the webshooters. Then he bought various attribute increasing items, along with some other stuff. Finally, we placed most of the item powers in Skin of the Hero that also covers other shots, because lots of different magical items didn't really seem to fit. So the character has a magical spidersuit, webshooters, and some magic amulets or rings. If the player wanted, I would have let him buy the magical items as actual powers - effectively no space items that can't be removed - for double cost, but that's not very efficient. At 15th level, the 200k GP allowed him to buy the spider man effects and some protective things. I'm not a big fan of templates, because they aren't really balanced. They have a "sweet spot" of levels, during which the template benefits about equal the missing levels, but before that, the character is often too fragile, and afterwards, the templated character comes out ahead.
