Spiderwick DiTerlizzi young reader series

BryonD

Hero
Hello all,

My daughter is reading the Spiderwick books by Tony DiTerlizzi (of Magic: The Gathering artwork fame). She is just over six years old and is really enjoying these books. She says they are "a little" scary. But it hasn't bothered her and she is really enjoying telling us all about brownies and boggarts and such.

So if you are looking for something to kickstart a young independent reader into fantasy, these are a great place to start.

Heh!

I was never in to planescape.
Haven't played MTG in years, but that is where I knew him from.
No offense to CCG haters or Plansescape lovers intended ;)

Seriously, though, the books are cool.

Thanks for the advice, BryonD. My newly-6-year-old son is due a trip to Borders to spend a gift card he got for his birthday. I may try to point him in this direction.

Any other suggestions? He has not really gotten into "chapter books" yet, but something like this might spark his imagination.
