Before I go to bed for the night I'm going to write out some thoughts on where I'd like to see the boards go and how we get there, and ask - beg - plead for some help. I am falling way behind as this site grows. Earlier this year I picked out reanjr to help, but he's dissappeared - which seems really strange and I'm worried that something may have gone wrong. Anyway, the void he helped to fill has only grown. Vbulletin isn't sitting still either. Jelsoft has released and tested version 3.5 over the last few months and is about to go gold with it. I would love to add the features of that program to the site, but I still need to finish and debug reviews. The ENnies pages are running behind. Two of the style sets are still down. Each evening when I sit down to code things I look at the list and, frankly, despair. I clearly need help. I hope some folks will step forward and provide that help. Here's the plan. 1. Split the Codebase I'm going to go to two mirror sites. One will be based on vbulletin 3.0.7, retain all existing mods and be maintained for debugging purposes. I need someone to help manage this who has a fairly good understanding of vbulletin 3.0 and PHP. Working with them I'd like to get the reviews site finally done and allow them to take over the maintanence of our current code base. Note that as far as new features go this codebase will be frozen - Colloquially this will be the ENWorld 1.0 codebase. The other, colloquially EN 2.0, will be based on vbulletin 3.5. I have a list of desired features to implement that can fill a 4 page text file, so I will need help with this as well. Development of this code will be modularized. When finished the 2.0 base must be able to smoothly and completely absorb the current boards - and this transition will be tested multiple times and daily. If you want to help on this board then say so - if you're willing to learn PHP as you go then on this board, which won't be live and on which speed won't be as essential, I will take the time to teach. Outside of PHP I desperately need someone with an understanding of just HTML that can assemble pages for things like the ENnies and ENPublishing and for the upcoming ISRP pages. I need someone who's willing and able to take an art program, develop placeholder graphics and implement them. Again, if your unsure of your skill level I will teach. Linux System Admin Since Deathe left we've been needing someone with a concrete understanding of Linux, particularly the slackware OS. I have a good understanding of it, but I'm still uncomfortable with the thought of installing software, wading through dependences, and setting up permission barriers - those sorts of things. This would be a position of high trust since whoever holds it must know the root password of the machine. I want ENWorld to move forward and grow - but it's become more work than I can manage alone. Please, help.
