I have read something about a dwarven fortess design, the spokes wheel design.
Have I got it right that the central shaft of the citadel leads into the earth with the entry at the top?
Seems to be ridiculous. Archers could dominate the whole shaft and take the fortress in no time.
Or has I misread something?
Got it from the old castles guide and the Iltkazar entry in Guide to the Underdark
