This prestige class is based on the Spirit Shaman from Complete Divine. I was looking for something like the Spirit Shaman, but in the form of a prestige class. Since I couldn't find one, I decided to write one myself.... (One of the things I didn't come up with myself up to now is a name. Anyone have a good descriptive name for this one?) Spontaneous Caster Hit Die: d4 Requirements: Alignment: Any non-lawful. Spells: able to cast arcane or divine spells. (also: see spells known/spells per day section) Class Skills: (not sure about these yet. I think the sorcerer's skill list would be appropriate, possibly allowing the knowledge( arcana ) to be replaced with an appropriate knowledge( nature ) or knowledge( religion ) from the base class used to get divine or arcane spells) Skill points at each level: 2 + int modifier Class Features: Weapon and Armor proficiencies: The spontaneous caster gain no weapon or armor proficiencies. Attack bonus and saving throw improvement: (use sorcerer progression) Spells per day/spells known: At each spontaneous caster level, the character gains spells per day and spells known( if applicable) as had also gained a level in a spellcasting class to which he belonged before adding the prestige class. He does not, however gain any other benefits a character from that class would have gained. If the character had more then one spellcasting class before becoming a spontaneous caster, he must choose a spellcasting class at the first spontaenous caster level. All benefits of later spontaneous caster levels are applied to that spellcasting class. In addition to the spells per day and spells known of the original spellcasting class, the spontaneous caster gains 'sponteneous casting access'. ( The number of spells of each level are taken from the 'spirit shaman spells retrieved per day' table from complete divine. ) Example of spontaneous access: A first level spontaneous caster gains 3 zero level and 1 first level spell as spontenous access. If she has a high enough charisma bonus to get bonus spells for this spell level, that bonus number of spells is added. Each time she prepares spells ( in the same manner as is required from her previous spellcasting class ) she may select 3 zero level spells and 1 first level spell from her normal spell list ( plus bonus spells) . She assignes slots from her her normal spells per day to these spells. Now, whenever she wants to cast a spell, she may select any of these spells. A spells per day slot is now used, but she may decide to cast the same spell 3 times, or all 3 spells once. Note that for characters without bonus spells from charisma, the spontaneous casting for levels with only one spontanous spell is rather pointless. The Save DC for spells cast in this way is Charisma based. Ok, what do you think? To weak? To strong? Has this been done before? Am I missing info you would like added? Any input is appreciated...
