[Spycraft] Lame idea?

In a Spycraft game would you like to work for Knight Industires. This group is part part of F.L.A.G. Foundation for Law and Governement.

In case you having gathered yet Knight Industries built the Knight Industries Two Thousand or KITT. There is also KARR the Knights Automated Roving Robot.

I think I can talk my players into a Spycraft game but would this be lame?

Also here is a link to a FAQ i would use

Salutations,

It could be fun- my players would probably be up for it.

What do you plan to do about the car? Do you plan to have it as a permanent gadget assigned to the group? Or even make it a pc? (That would be weird, and possibly no fun.)

They have rules in one of the books for a mobile center of command. I think it is called a battle center or something like that. Anyway- the rules for it would be perfect for the semi.

Good luck!

I'd ask my players before I sprang this on them. Personally, the idea of being on part of an 80's TV show starring David Hasselhoff frightens the stink out of me.

Hehehe.

I did recall a failed spinoff TV series called Team Knight Rider. Although KITT and Michael Knight weren't on the series, it did feature the next generation ensemble of men & women and their intelligent automobiles.

The concept is sound (Michael Knight and KITT is the first and paved the way for expansion), but the series development and storyline sucks.

Ack Team Knight Rider really sucked the BIG one - it was horrible!!!!

As for Knight Rider it self I loved the show (even if it did have David Hasselhoff - but I can ignore that because of KITT and Amber mmmm)

Anyway I actually think making KITT a PC (Wheelman of course - possibly an NPC) would be kind of kewl in a totally geeky kind of way :P -lol-

Cause really what does a Wheelman do other than drive the car. Now not only can they drive they can BE the Car AND fill in as Snoop!

Well, I would be cautious if making KITT an NPC the PCs drive around in. It may seem cool at the concept level, but during chses you would essentially be pitting two NPCs against each other, one in each vehicle. In our group, chases lose some of the players as it is (the non-wheelman ones). Imagine if YOU as the GC are controlling both prey and predator....

Why is that? I have not seen the show in years, but Michael Knight was often the one driving the car. Wasn't he? I recall his hand on the stearing wheel.

Well, if you were to make it a permanent gadget (or more appropriately, one the PCs always have to take), it would be alright. Making the car itself a PC would be boring unless all missions were always on the road, making it boring for all the other players. Making KITT an NPC with wheelman class levels (which is what I was warning against) would pretty much negate the need for a wheelman PC driver.

True, it worked well in the show to have a driver for a car that could drive itself, but if you have one person to drive a car that can already drive itself, then you waste the car's functionality. If you have the car be an NPC that drives itself with no PC driver then you run the risk of pitting two NPCs against each other during chases, as I mentioned in my above post.

I personally think it is an awesome idea, especially if the players and GC like chases, but I would have KITT be a gadget, instead of an NPC. You could have it have a voice and a mind of it's own, if you wanted, but nothing like being a full-fledged NPC.

Someone on the Spycraft boards said something about Spy Hunter in a post. Now that would be another fun way to try and play Spycraft.

I agree. The TV series did suck, but from an analytical perspective, the concept of expansion into a team would have been a natural progression for the Foundation Of Law And Government would undertake after the Michael Knight & KITT project.

This way, more than one player can be involved in, especially for role-playing games. I mean honestly, do you want to play a game where the option is to have only one designated driver and the rest as passenger extras (mechanics, field operative, etc.)?
