Pretty much a rehash of what Psion said.. I have purchased almost every spycraft related book, save a few of the shadowforce archer ones. I have also purchased most of the d20 modern material that is available. I'm just going to throw out some of the things I like and dislike about both systems.. + means I like it, - means I don't, ? means it's both good and bad. Spycraft: + Overall awesome system - Classes are trained pros, hard to make the typical "normal guy stuck in the wrong place at the wrong time character" + uses wounds and vitality, woo! + most armour provides damage reduction rather then an an bonus ? the way equipment is purchased via points.. which doesn't really change as the players level up... only with the relative difficulty of the mission. Cool for the GM because he doesn't have to deal with the players always having all the gadgets, but annoying for the players + pretty good sourcebooks out there, theres 3 class books similar to the "sword and fist" line wotc puts out for dnd, a weapons guide, and one big adventure with smaller ones available for download.. I haven't really seen much official 3rd party stuff, but I think another company signed a deal to make sure adventures? + 3 main setting types, modern day espionage, 60s espionage (book for that coming out soon), weird psion/technology espionage via shadowforce archer d20 Modern: + overall amore versatile system, you can do more with the rules + class system is more generic and encourages multiclassing... you take levels like "strong" or "smart", so it's easier to build any character you want (I like this, some people HATE it) + rules are "easier" to learn because they are very similar to normal 3e dnd - doesn't seem to be much support for this system so far.. which really surprised me - lots of different worlds, but some of them are just weird.. urban arcana is basically dnd in the modern world except only a few people can see the bad creatures.. theres a buffy the slayer setting, that kind of stuff. All in all, if it's espionage you want to run, Spycraft is probably your best bet. Check out the downloadable stuff at www.spycraftrpg.com (also check out the mini-rules, it will give you an idea of the game) Have fun.
