[SSS-Open Call] Thanks and good luck!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who submitted to the Creature Collection IV Open Call. Judging by those I've had the chance to look through so far, this is going to be a hell of a book. I'm only sorry I don't have more space; as it is, I'm going to have to make some very tough choices.

Those of you who are selected will be contacted by the 21st. Those of you who aren't, please don't assume it means your submissions were bad. Some are excellent ideas, but not right for Scarred Lands. Some are duplicates, where I received the same idea from more than one person. And the limitations on page and word count will almost certainly force me to decide against some for no better reason than I have too many good options.

Best of luck to all of you, and thanks again.

Is there anyway to know if your submissions arrived ahead of the deadline, I (stupidly) left my typing up to the '11th-hour', so to speak, and I was second guessing the time difference between GMT and whatever time S&SS were using for the deadline, its plausible I could have just missed Friday midnight your 'Eastern Standard Time'...which would be a tad annoying if that was being used for the deadline. :o

Were we to receive an automated notice telling us the submissions had arrived safely? Or some such?

Thanks.

No, there was no automatic notification. If you'd like, you can e-mail me--ari AT mouseferatu.com--and tell me the e-mail address you used to submit to the open call, and I'll look into it for you.

Anyone else who isn't sure they got their stuff in on time can do the same, but I'll ask you to do so only if you really have doubts about whether you beat the deadline. I want to be accomodating, but I only have so much time, after all. I will only tell people if their submission arrived at the last minute. I will not tell people what I thought of it, or if I've even read it, or take a guess at why it might not have arrived if I don't have it. Nor will I take late submissions through my own private e-mail; without meaning to sound hard-nosed about it, anyone who tries will be disqualified from future open calls if I have anything to say about it.

(Upper Krust, I know you weren't asking me any of that stuff. I just want to get it clear now, before someone else does. :))

Thanks very much mate, that would put my mind at ease.

Thats okay mate, I know you are just doing your job and I support you totally.

Its my own stupidity anyway, my friends coaxed me out to see Matrix Revolutions and I thought I would have ample time to type the submissions up when I got home, but as in the matrix, things are never as they appear, time seemed to vapourise before me, while my eyelids were like lead as I approached 24 hours without sleep.
