A player in my game has made a goliath barbarian with the racial substitution level that provides Mountain Rage. The effects of Mountain Rage are as follows:

(Ex) ability
Increases size to Large
Does not stack with Powerful Build's granted abilities
+2 to Str while in rage
Replaces normal barbarian rage
Acts in all other ways like barbarian's rage
Now, this same player is thinking of taking Psychic Warrior levels for the Expansion power. He plans to use it to increase his size further, stacking it with his Mountain Rage. Normally, multiple magical size increase effects do not stack, but Mountain Rage is an extraordinary ability and therefore is non-magical, so it should stack. However, I noticed that Mountain Rage does not simply increase your size by one category, but increases your size specifically to Large. What this says to me is that using Expansion may not actually stack with Mountain Rage, because if you were to grow to Large size through the psionic power and then Rage, you'd already be Large and so the Mountain Rage would have no further effect. Of course, you might read the effect in the other direction. If you increase your size to Large via an (Ex) ability, and then afterward use the Expansion power, you will increase your size one category beyond Large. Interestingly, Expansion states that multiple effects that increase size do not stack, which is different than the statement in Enlarge Person, which calls out only magical size increases. Is there some general prohibition on size increase stacking that I have missed? If I use the line from Expansion, then it does not stack with Mountain Rage at all. I'm inclined to think that size increases simply do not stack, regardless of the source. Does anyone have a good rebuttal that might change my mind?
