A friend of mine got us tickets to see that Lewis Black / Dave Attel tour. He injured his back in a couple of days prior, but it was Lewis Black, dangit, so he popped the Vicodin and we went anyway. So what if a piece of one vertebra was completely broken off? We were both fans of Mitch Hedberg, so it was great to see him too ... sad it'll never be again. And that night, Attel had a very aggressive and drunk heckler. You'll find it hard to believe that I'm using this adjective to describe the man, but his handling of the heckler can only be called "gentlemanly". Of course, after security carried him off, Dave said, "Okay, that thumping sound you're about to hear is Dan being thrown down the stairs". I also like Bil Engvall and Ron White. I often have free tickets to Harvey's comedy club here in Portland, where I see a lot of really funny folks. Many of them I don't remember the names of right now, and the ones I do many of you wouldn't know -- but a lot of big names have played there back when, so maybe you will know their names before long. Last night I saw Kelly Moran, there's Tracy Smith, Ron Osborne, Michael Mancini (Mancini is a policeman in his other job. Let's just say the man has a great supply of material.), and of course, local boy Dwight Slade. His CD "Weird State" is devoted to humor relating to Oregon, the state he and I both call home.
