Star Wars Character Gen?

Okina-rdae Character generator

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a copy of the Okina-rdae Star Wars Character Generator? I had a copy of it and used it for a few years now. However, I had a nasty computer crash and my back up is corrupted.

Sorry, no copyright-violating trading here

Thanks.

The Okina-rdae generator was taken down by a cease-and-desist order from WotC. The game is not open content, so generators not by WotC will be in violation of copyright.

EN World does not condone violation of copyright, nor do we allow trading in such stuff on these boards. If you want to find a copy of such a thing, please do it elsewhere.

It's hopeful, though honestly quite doubtful, that maybe with the Saga Edition re-launch of the line, we might get an official char-gen program. Even though Rodney has said many times that building a character, even a high-level one, is much easier under SECR than RCR, it's still nice to be able to track changes to a PC over time, or even make minute changes as you're building the character without having to eat-up a bunch of paper or leave eraser marks all over your character sheet.

I still have a copy of the Okina-Rdea generators, and swear by them when making pre-gen'd characters and NPCs.

What I find amusingly ironic about the whole sitch with OR and Nazgul was that JD Wiker was planning on bringing up the subject making the program an officially endorsed WotC product, but that his tenure ended before he could make the suggestion. Missed opportunity to generate some easy revenue for WotC given how popular the program was.

One has to wonder if LucasArts can make an exception to this type of electronic software, and if LFL is willing to approve such a move.

Unless it reqiures an amendment to their existing licensing contract.

Legal? He has a license from both WotC and Lucas to do that?
Don't know about legal per se, but it might have flown under the radar since the only information listed pretains to the SWRPG character sheet (avaiable for free download off Wizard's SW main site). It also has none of the material from any of the sourcebooks.

The big thing that got Okina-Rdae in trouble was that you could get all sorts of information, such as class features, progression, what feats did, etc. from the core book as well as the various sourcebooks, truly making the books redundant as far as crunch went. And since none of that was "open content," hence the legal issue.

damn so there is no way to get a copy of the Okina-Rdea generator :( that would have been an amazing resource for planning this game im trying to get started. This whole newbie DM and starting with an SWRPG campaign is intense but that said, im a starwars nut so its definately the easiest setting for me to run a game in.

are there any other non-web based character generators its possible to get a copy of? (legal?) or WoTC wont license out to anyone?

Please PM/email me if you have any suggestions/info that could help me with this quandry!!

To my knowledge, there is no generator, on- or off-line, that is approved by both Lucas and WotC.

I've heard rumors of places out in the fringes of the internet that it might be found, but such places are truly hives of scum and villainy. You should be cautious.

The other option is what for Saga Edition to drop in about 7 weeks. My current SW campaign is on hiatus due to 2/3rds the group getting wiped out (the fools decided to challenge the Sith Murder Machine head-on w/o the two Jedi PCs), and the mutual decision made to wait and see what Saga holds before making new characters. Especially as it sounds like most of the characters are simply going to have to be rebuilt from the ground-up under the new rule set.

From what Rodney has said, making high-level characters under SE rules is much, much easier than it ever could be under OCR or RCR, even with a generator.

Sidenote: I'm note sure if it's still up, or how good it is, but JD Wiker posted a link to a MS excel character creator on his personal website. I haven't been there in years, so I don't know if the link is still up. Might be worth checking out.
