Oh I've totally played Edge of the Empire! I stuck in there for five or six games not long after we finished a d20 Star Wars Saga campaign. I had a terrible experience for a few reasons, but most of all because the group dynamics just weren't there--even in the hands of a GM with over 2 decades of time behind the table. Because it's a heavily narrative game (with a volleying mechanic between the PCs and GM) you cannot play it like you would a modular simulation game (like Pathfinder) or even a narrative simulation (like D&D 5E). In the right hands I can see it being very enjoyable but those have gotta be the right hands! If you are already ensconced in the new Star Wars RPG, this probably isn't for you and that's totally cool (in fact it is specifically for people that play D&D 5e). Coming in here and saying no to the entire idea of hacking an RPG system to do something else is not--it disincentives other people to do cool things (like, say, hack Edge of the Empire to play a Western themed game instead of science fiction). Maybe after doing so, a group takes interest in Deadlands or another proper western RPG that they never would have imagined trying out were it not for their GM's initiative in widening their gaming perspective. And that's why the mod came in here and told you a big word and why I have written two paragraphs explaining this--your opinion is wanted and has merit but not if you are just trolling and have nothing constructive to say. Also, I have a fun thing saved for instances just like this! Here's Frank Mentzer talking about nuclear warheads in D&D. I guess we should tell him he's doing it wrong, eh? ;) Once again thank you for taking part in the discussion, and I look forward to more of that when you actually have something of value to offer. :)
