Star Wars: New Jedi Order

How should I handle this situation?

I haven't read this series (or any Star Wars novel, except for RAS's EpII novelization), but from experience with other lines of books, I say start over from the beginning. Jumping in halfway through never sat well with me.

Vector Prime, Star By Star, Balance Point, Traitor, and the entire Force Heretic Trilogy(especially Reunion) are some of the best Star Wars novels.

I would remove Vector Prime and add the two Behind Enemy Lines (minus the Dark Jedi bit, which I've been trying to blank from my mind) books to that list.

I've pretty much settled on getting all the books and starting over from the begining. Through the SciFi Book Club I can get everything from Vector Prime through the Force Heretic series for a total of $115. They will all be hard cover books, which is something I always like and things like Agents of Chaos, Dark Tide and such are collected into single book collections. I just have to wait until my next paycheck and order it.

Personally I remember enjoying Vector Prime and Agents of Chaos. Those ones I do indeed remember reading, but will read again just to refresh my memory. :)

You're sure of this? Only four of them were original published as hardcovers and there will only be one more.

Quite sure. The SciFi Book Club only deals in hard cover books. They have worked out deals with the various publishing houses to reprint soft cover books in hardcover and offer them to members. And when it comes to trilogies and such (like Force Heratic) they release them in a all in one book.

Agreed on Behind Enemy Lines. I just liked Vector Prime as a really interesting book...not the best, but definatly started my interest. I think Traitor is my absolute favorite...but that's probably because I've ALWAYS been a huge Jacen fan. :)

PD: Interesting on the hardcover bit.

It is more of a feel issue with, rather than a quality one. The way RAS handled things didnn't always seem appropriate for a SW book.

You could always buy WotC's New Jedi Order Sourcebook. I bought it to use as a resource for my SWRPG campaigns, but it got me introduced into the NJO pretty good. It only covers the first 10 books (up to Star By Star, very pivotal ending), but it's pretty good. It sums up every book in a chapter.

In-between....

I got interested when a certain writer got involved....Mr. Salvatore, although I have never read any of his other books, I knew he had a good rep.

And he didn't disappoint me....and Vector Prime left me stunned and shocked. A certain scene that happened....I had to read three times, just for it to sink in.

As for the other books before this series, I have not collected...busy with other things I guess. I regret that now, but this current run has reopen the years of yesterday.

Who would thought, that this will be still around.

May the Force be with You.

The New Jedi Order RAWKS! It's definately my favorite series of Star Wars books. It has been a long ride and must be getting close to the end of it by now, but it's been great. I especially like the recent changes in Jacen and his discoveries about the nature of the Force.

I would definately restart the series from the begining if I were you. I can't wait to get the last few books from the Sci-Fi book club so I can read them. I really love having the whole series in hardback! :D
