Introducing a new top villain for the trilogy (who could actually carry the weight of that role) also could have worked. Snoke was just never up to the task (at least not based on what we saw of him), and having him abruptly die in Episode 8 was a cool twist, but if you're going to kill off the apparent top villain halfway through part 2 of a trilogy, you should introduce the real big bad evil guy lurking in a shadow or something at the end of that movie.</blockquote>
