In the Galactic Empire, there were only two sides to any issue: the Empire’s, and anyone else’s. Of course, Yuul had grown up in times of conflict and strife, and a day without news of some military defeat here or a radical new law enacted there was few and far between. The years of instability and fear and a million different skewed versions of ‘justice’ have taught him one thing: use whatever skills you can to get by, and be glad you were born a Clawdite.

Of course, this modus operandi doesn’t apply to everyone. Indeed, Yuul is keenly aware that if he were born a Wookiee, or any one of thousands of other species, he’d be in Imperial ‘service camps’ and doomed never to see the light of day again. But he wasn’t, and more than that, he can now move about nearly anywhere in the galaxy more freely than even a human, in the existential and monetary sense. Sure, he’s been through the usual string of changeling occupations: information broker, thief, assassin, con artist; he lived as royalty for a few months, until he was inevitably discovered (they say back on Zolan that every young upstart goes through that phase). But now there’s the Rebellion, a cause worth fighting for, and maybe even worth dying for, if it comes to that. Frankly, the whole ‘morality’ thing is a relatively new development for him, but the Rebels and their confidence in their convictions are starting to rub off. Hell, they even blew up the Death Star, the Empire’s superweapon, so who knows where it all might lead! Yuul was working for them long before that spectacular catastrophe, though. At first they tried to integrate him into the SpyNet, but he didn’t mesh well with the Bothans; the same objectives, but two very different ways of going about them. That’s not to say he didn’t learn a few things on the way; as a shapeshifter you always pick up some worthwhile information about those you impersonate. After some time working independently, now they have him working in a small team, a special-ops kind of deal. It’s a new concept for him as well, one he’s not sure he’ll be able to get used to given his solitary nature. The Rebels have been pretty lenient in that regard, never asking about his personal life or his history, which he honestly doesn’t like to talk about. Nevertheless, he can be a sociable person if the situation calls for it; he’s proven that much many times over. He just hopes his new team will accept his sincerity for the cause once they find out what he is; and what exactly is that, he wonders? A changeling with conviction, he decides: a rarity.
