Yeah, I say
hallucination
too. I kind of figured
it was all a dream to begin with, with the cabins with the glass windows and such to begin with.
I'm not even sure if
those people who stayed behind on the planet even survived to begin with.
Honestly, I didn't really care for that part of the episode, since it dragged on the suspense from the rest of the story, but just
having her wake up at the end and Wray tell her the baby died
probably would have felt weak in its own way. This experience might be important in a later episode as well, SGU is less episodic than the previous two series, and we've seen the writers set things up over the long run in the first season. So the speculation that
she would survive while the baby died
was correct. As for what happened
to the baby, showing a dead fetus
would have been in poor taste anyway. I like how the whole situtation with the LA was resolved for now.
Kiva and it would seem the more violent and dangerous LA members are dead, so that's good for the crew.
It doesn't answer what will happen with the others, but that wasn't likely to be resolved anyway in this episode. Status quo is the easiest way to keep the biggest amount of the fan base pleased. It resolves a cliffhanger, leaving too much open would frustrate some of the people who wanted a tighter closure after 4 months of no fresh episodes. Watchers don't want to see their favorite characters get killed off. The whole incursion from the LA isn't completely resolved, but achieves enough of a balance of resolution while providing a plot hook for the next episode. I've seen cliffhangers resolved in much weakers ways than this that were very unsatifying, so overall I liked the episode.
