Chloe went to Rush because they shared an alien abduction experience, and he saved her life. Young decided to fire upon the alien ship, risking Rush and Chloe's lives. Chloe makes this point verbally to Eli in the episode. Why would she go to TJ who is only the ship's doctor and counselor because there is no one more qualified? (Not that I don't love TJ, oh I do . . .) Yes, Rush manipulates her . . . as he does everyone else on the ship . . . but she makes her own decision based on some pretty direct experiences. I've never understood the "Chloe-haters" amongst the fans (not saying you are one necessarily, Hand). Chloe is a great character! She is the "normal" person caught up in extraordinary events! She makes decisions that "normal" folk just might make under crazy circumstances like being on an alien ship lost in the universe. Most of the civilians are scientists and other super-smart folks part of a secret international government conspiracy of space exploration and alien interaction through wormholes (Stargate Command)! Eli isn't, but he is a super-genius. The rest are military folks also part of the conspiracy. Chloe is . . . the daughter of a US congressman who was let in on the secret. Chloe is smart, but not a genius. She comes from a well-to-do family with money . . . she's gorgeous . . . and even more so than anyone else on Destiny, she isn't supposed to be there! I think the writing on this show is excellent, and there isn't a character that I feel "needs to die" as I've heard many times about Chloe on various message boards. I enjoy Chloe's character development just as much as I do the other more "useful" characters on the ship.
