Yeah, that really ticked me off. There better be an injured/dead marine next week (or at least a mention of one off-screen) or I'm going to be really pissed off. The show has been great about showing a guard EVERY TIME you see a Lucian Alliance member -- even when Eli was 'busy' -- and then no one around that time? WTH? Not to mention, if the trailers are to be believed: They killed Ginn! You bastards! Chloe is sitting around, slowly mutating into an alien and TOTALLY FREAKING USELESS even when they give her bizarro-mutant powers and they kill off one of the few likeable Lucian Alliance members? NOT COOL. I don't care how much the writers are trying to shove Super-Chloe down our throats, she's still a useless waste of screen time and I really wish they'd realize it and move on... Not only do I *totally* agree with you, the whole 'he's too valuable for his knowledge' is FAST running out for Rush. Not to mention -- the science crew repeatedly wonders where he goes when he's missing. Uh, guys? We have these things called Kinos... Overheard it on the radio link? Followed the mass exodus of the Science team when they couldn't find them as the ship randomly started moving? No clues here either, but that was one of my favorite scenes. As a side note, I like how lighting has related to their growing control of Destiny. The Gate Room (at the beginning) was VERY dark. The engineering station they've used for most of the show is rather dark. The bridge is the first well-lit set (other than hydroponics) on the show. Eh, maybe I'm over-thinking it. ;) I kind of like the parallels between Rush/Young and Eli/Scott. Rush lost his wife, went squirrelly, and we've been following the plot from there. He's brilliant, yes, but odd and hard to deal with. Young apparently *was* a great leader (and we still catch a few glimmers of that) but he's burnt out, doesn't inspire much trust anymore, and spends a lot of time questioning his old decisions. Eli is brilliant, a little bit quirky, and nearly as good with old technology. They hooked him up with Ginn right before (apparently) killing her off, which parallels nicely with Rush. They're also setting him up to be the science advisor to Scott, which would parallel the Rush/Young dynamic, hopefully with less disfunction. Scott, on the other hand, is the well-respected young leader on the military side. We've seen him lead and do well. He's bothered by his losses -- including the ones that weren't his fault, like the LT -- but he's on the rising side of his career. Long story short: It looks like a generational hand-off to me -- Rush/Young are replaced by Eli/Scott and Wray maintains control on the civilian front.
