The Nexus system is more advanced than d20 future and is based on several systems to get an easy faced paced game but with some great details as well. It still pretty ease to play, once everything is built, as a d20 roll to hit v AC is all you need to roll. Criticals still can happen and then a random slot damage can occur, maybe a blown engine or lose of the bridge. It is 2d combat and uses just current movement as a base, no silly working out if I am doing X this way and then turn and move Y I end up at Z. You just move the number of squares you have losing some for stunts like rolls and slides. No AOO for ranged weapons, thus they are closer to normal combat than d20F is there. The rules allow you to build pretty much what ever type of ship you like. So no just guessing from what you are given to make something else, or just adding a tech upgrade for that newer ship. You get to make your own and not have to buy a book! No having an UL with the same gun as a SH dreadnaught. UL are now using smaller guns but have a size mod to allow them to hit and not be hit more against a SH dreadnaught. The weapons are now based on the medium version damage, size increased to add a bigger punch but at a cost of the to hit, due to size mod. Thats right! The weapon size dictates the to hit size mod NOT the size of the ship. As it should be. the use of pilot skill for defence is off set by the new gunnery skill for the to hit. Facings for guns and movement means you can get into a blind spot and shot without being hit yourself. Expanded size mods allows for Mecha/ called APeS in my version) vs space craft combat. Larger sized ships, so to get those 10km long SH vs a smaller ship combats. Space stations and satellites rules already built into the game. Same with planetary defnece bases. Missiles that don't hit the same round as fired, unless you are that close you can see the whites of their eyes. heaps of gadgets and guns to play with. FREE TO DOWNLOAD. with one rule. tell me what you like or dislike and why :D And the final reason. Me! I am truely interested in getting a good combat game for space craft and will actually respond to your questions and enquiries.
