Starting adventure for a small party

First Post
Hello,

I'm looking for a suited adventure (maybe even a larger plot that follows them for a while) to start a 3-player party. The setting will be Faerun, although its not entirely decided I will have most likely a Barbarian, a Wizard and a Rogue in the group.

It seems I have absolutely no idea with what to start, and I also don't want to construct an adventure completely by myself cause it always ends up being like "go there, kill that, collect treasure". I've been looking for suited low-level adventures or some that don't require the bad guy (and his followers) to be of higher level for reasons of pure logic so I can rewrite them, but so far I had no luck. Also, playing starts on thursday, so I only have 2 days left and (besides having to work) not the time to read 20-30 adventures just to see if they are even possible to use.

Does anyone have suiteable ideas or know any adventures that I could use?

Btw: I did already read like 10-15
Any help would be greatly apperciated :)

While it is 3.0, I think that many people's first experiance with DnD is The Sunless Citadel from WotC. It was my first DnD game, and the first game the DM had run in the new system, and we all had lots of fun. Barring that I suggest going to the WotC site and check out some of the free adventures there. Burning Plague, I believe, is a low level one involving Kobolds that I have heard good things about.

Stormborn: We already played the sunless Citadel as our introduction to DnD quite a while ago, but 2 of the players know it already. Also one of the players knows most WotC adventures so they're out of the question, too.
the Burning Plague is one I was/am considering to use (he desn't know it, I believe), but I'd like to have at least one other option...

diaglo: Where can I find it? tried to google it but it only came up with a reference to Dragon Magazine Mar/Apr 1987, which I don't have (started playing only one or two years back). Is it available online somewhere?

still, hank you for your fast answers!

try downloading the freebies from 2ed on the WotC site. a little conversion is needed but they have plenty of stuff.

Creat, if you don't have an aversion to online products, check out rpgnow.com and look in the low adventure section. You can use enworld reviews to get a good idea of whether or not a given adventure is your speed. Even if you don't want a pdf module, they can still be helpful in sussing one out for in store purchase.

Evil Unearthed from Dungeon #82. Can be run alone or links to the next two mods in that issue.

There is a mystery, there is intrigue, RP is there (if you want) and a dungeon crawl at the end. Something for everybody!!

I agree with this, Evil Unearthed is a great starting adventure. An NPC cleric would tend to be handy in just about any adventure for 1st levels for healing, even if there aren't any undead.

I would normally recommend Wizards Amulet/Crucible of Freya from Necromancer Games, but that is potentially very lethal, especially for a small party so I'd leave it off the list this time.

The AEG book Adventure I has lots of short adventures of low level that you can tie together-or not-as you choose. I haven't run any of them yet, but I like the looks of them.

Then, if you want something free, you might check out the adventures our own Pogre has written. You can find them on his website here: http://www.pogre.com/dnd.html Download them and take a look!
