Hi all- Last night was the 25th game of our Campaign (we play about every 2 weeks) with 3.5 rules. Over the past year, the PC's have done some pretty interesting things. Most notebly was Laos a Paladin of the Church of the One True Path of Pholtus (LN aspect as worshipped in the Pale). He has died somewhere around 6 times - and thus the reason for his PrC being Twice Born - throughtout the life of the campaign. Due to their high level, they have been wanting encounters that use almost all of their resources. I used a map from one of the adventures in Dun. 106 and just placed encounters. The fought 3 Abyssal Basilisks, a Minotaur and 3 Warhain Hell Hounds, a Fire Giant w/ 4 levels of Fighter and a Raksaka with 8 levels of Sorcerer. These battles were close, and they always had to Dimension Door back to the Bishop's office. Well after healing up and being prepared, they Dim. Door'ed back into the tunnels and there were 4 14 HD Demonic Trolls from Dangerous Denziens (K&C). Nasty creatures. In the top of the 4th round, the 'elder' leader cast his Blashpmy. Being that they cast this at 13th level and can do so 3x a day, after the first 2 rounds of my free attacks (equal to caster level is only dazed [defend only as normal]). So since they continue to attack, and with all of them casting this (12 times), we felt that afte those 2 rounds, everybody would have been killed. I have been planning on startng a new campaign (3.5), but I had expected to do so in 2 months - after more planning and more game time with the, now dead, PC's. I think that the players have begun to get tired of their PC's and were looking forward to starting a new group. So this new campaign is centered around the Military of the Imperial Theocracy of the Pale CY 596 and during the late portion of the Hegemony Wars (in which the northern portion of Tenh has been taken over by the Orcs and Hobgoblins of Sil-Krag). The City of Stroun sits on the border of the expaned lands of the Pale and is 56 miles south of the former Nevond Evond (however it is spelled), now the capital of Sil-Krag (more info can be found at CanonFire.com doing a search for Hegemony Wars). The game will start with a mass combat - from AEG's Empire rules. The PC's will come from the ranks of the units used from Empire. The NPC warrior and Soldier/Warmage classes will not count against class limits. Of course the Soldier class can be taken at any time as well. Any thoughts on this new campaign. Anybody doing anything like this? I figure that with this style of campaign, all treasure items and gold will be turned in to the superiors, and will need to request them to use them. I doubt that we will have many more mass combats - most of the adventures will revolve around attacking supply lines, attacking any enemy encampment and either assassinating leaders or capturing them, or other ideas from Complete Warrior, Fields of Blood, Cry Havoc, Empire, Mercenaries, or any number of other books I have. Well thanks in advance for any help.
