WARNING darkvision WARNING Against Drow. Ha. You funny. Gooood luck! I've been studying up on this since (a) *my* party is about to hit the Underdark, (b) my character found out a couple of sessions ago that he has a half-cousin Drow that wants him dead. Here're some things I've found out IC that you may be able to put to good use. (1) Do NOT put your trust in darkvision magic. Most if not all darkvision spells & items will confer 60 foot darkvision. This is woefully inadequate as most Underdark denizens have twice that (Drow, Deep Gnomes, Deep Dwarves all have 120 foot darkvision). (2) Do NOT expect targetted spells to work on Drow. They've got that pesky SR thing going for them. Hate 'em bunches for that. Go the more indirect path of buffs and such. (3) Do NOT be shy about running away! Okay, well, this one is OOC, but my GM warned us that if we can't take care of business quietly (and this party has yet to resolve combats subtlely) sound WILL carry and enemy reinforcements WILL arrive. The best plan I have for getting my party into the Underdark safely and unseen is gonna heavily rely on our rogue. He has mongo stealth (40s to 50s) and plenty of invis (if he's on good terms with the party's Sorcerer). Should those fall through he has a Robe of Blending + lots of ranks of Bluff that should allow him to talk guards away from their posts and into our clutches (bwahaha!). It's thin, but it's what we're planning. I'll let you know if any of us manage to survive the first encounter! :-)
