D&D 5E Steve Winter breaks down 5E monster math!

5ever, or until 2024
I seem to be in a scooping mood today, probably because I have to much to do at work.

Long time D&D editor and designer Steve Winter has begun a series delving into 5E monster math. Conveniently, he is now also doing monster design at Kobold Press.

First post is an in depth examination of ability scores, size, and type.

No problem. I look forward to the other ones in the series.

The kobolds have been posting some interesting 5E articles, but I don't think they have a 5E tag, so they can be a little hard to find.

I hope the series does not only state the fact but also comments on WHY these choices were made.

I await the post on saves. I would like to know more on the whys and hows on them.

He's analyzing someone else's work...how could he know the Why?
