Twink it as best you can; oh, and while we're on the subject, let me offer you a "special quality" tool for doin' constructs, inspired by the "unholy toughness" ability that some undead started having in MM3:Will to Survive (Ex): This construct has a powerful will to survive. It may add its wisdom bonus to each hit die when rolling for hit points. I figure that slapping this attribute on top of a standard construct usually increases the CR by +1.
