Stonecunning + illusionary wall

The topic says it all... doesn't it? Can a character with stonecunning ability take an automatic search check to notice an illusionary wall set in an underground setting?

IMO no, have to check a Will save first to notice illusion, if save is fail the wall is perfect in the eyes of the stonecutter !!
 

PHB, page 15:
"Something that isn’t stone but that is disguised as stone also
counts as unusual stonework."

It's a racial bonus but there's nothing specifying it can only be added to skill checks. I'd say absolutely it would work on the illusion save in the case described.

Spell focus, laddie, spell focus. That shows an illusionist's specialization. One could also invent a new more focused form of spell focus (not greater spell focus), but one gaining even more benefits for specialized forms of illusions.

Personally I'd just use one of the Shadow Conjuration spells. Make the durn thing partially real.
