Well yesterday I went up to Gamers Paradise in the Century and today to the one at the HIP. Both had a fair number of D20 products 50% off. Is this a common event or ?

Depends on their stock and how it sales. I've bought many new Wizards stuff for 50% or more off just by waiting a few or more months. So, I've seen it happen with some stuff.
