Book-Friend, he/him
The Stormlight Archives RPG books are dropping for backers tomorrow, including miniature STL files (Pic below). Physical books will be going out soon, but digital copies will be available for general purchase soon at outlets like DriveThruRPG.

"Happy day before Digital Pre-Launch, Radiants!"

"Tomorrow, July 23rd, is a big day for the Cosmere RPG: we'll be rolling out digital rewards tomorrow morning! That means you're just a day away from receiving your PDFs, VTT codes, and miniature STLs you ordered."

"As long as you completed your survey, you'll be able to download your materials starting at 10 am Eastern time by logging in to your BackerKit account. We'll be sending reminder emails to all backers, but those will go out over the course of the day and you don't need to wait for them!"

1 GB of PDFs 😳😱
Just downloaded it now.

The books are pretty, the layout easy to read, the illustrations wonderful in theme. If you're a fan of Sanderson's work, you will be happy.

Well, now I have a ton of stuff to read during my vacances. I am fairly sure I will love it, as I loved the beta rules, the d20 ma non troppo system, the character creation and leveling with the class trees...

Yeah, been reading through it and this is absolutely killer stuff. The 0-Level Adventure where players discover their characters by making choices is brilliant, and I like that is designed to be friendly for people unfamiliar the novels. I think this will see a lot of convention and store play.

Just read the Welcome to Roshar PDF. It is simply the best introduction to a game world (or a fantasy world in general) I have ever read. It's gorgeous, it explains the setting with the right level of detail to make you want to explore it but understanding is many particularities.

Simply bravo!!!

Honestly, I'm inclined to share it with folks I'm trying to convince to read the novels, to ease the process. Roshar ia such a strange Setting, a nice visual introduction would help a lot of people.

So clearly Sandy has been doing his research (and GMing of 12+ years working towards this system.)

- Its very refined: They have taken the time to consider the characters as being useful at "level 1" and then growing in ability and power from there.

- It's not complex, but its not PBTA either: They have clearly set this up for heroic combat and adventure, and the rules look like a very modern and clean progression of D&D 5e (but so much better in many ways)

- It has FULL rules for Social roleplay and social combat! As default! Clearly this game is built around competent characters who are more than "fighter with hit sword feats" or "wizard with harm murder spells". They have taken their time to create rules and mechanics for politics, intrigue and command groups.

- Fully 2/3 of the "Classes" are not murder hobos: ok, none of them are, but other than Warrior and Ranger, the rest are all very interesting and diverse classes that speak to a well rounded story, not just dungeon crawling murder combat.

- Combat is thorough. They have all the typical bits and bobs we are used to from Pathfinder and D&D, from feat like stuff, to reactions stuff. But its "Choose how aggressive you want to be to get bonus actions" is really great!!!

.......

I have never read any of his books, and I have had no trouble at all creating characters in the game. The what they present the game is "Here are the types of races and classes you can play, and they have rich purposes and functions, but you don't need to know their backstory or ties to the novels. You can run with them however you interpret them"

There are only 2 Heritages (races) at this time, but certainly lots more to come, the game is built for expansion for sure!

Overall this is a Masterclass in game design!

Somehow this game hits all of the opportunities for munchkin, combat, social, romance, and story plots in really easy and clear ways.

It leans "trad" in its design, but with some very sleek modernizations!

I can't remember.
Does it have a quickstart pdf for non-backers?
There was a quikstart bets preview, and I lnownthey have starter plans for when the game goes to retail towards the Holidays, but there are some free previews and resources on the games website:

Yes, exactly this! It leans into what I really love about D&D and 5E in particular, without being constrained by D&D's history and "brand identity".

That is good to hear, because I hope to get my non-reader friends and family to play this with me.

Yeah, the Mistborn RPG next year will expand those options, and they are also working on "generic" settings for the rules in fantasy, modern, and Sci-Fi flavors...so Elven Wizarda and Dwarven Clerics might be playing alongside Singer Knights Radiant and Mistborn soon enough...
