This isn't so much a criticism as a general distate for high level unrestricted magic. I stopped reading half way through because I was bored of hearing how they did everything but make their breakfast with magic. Wind walk here, teleport there, oh look I died but I'm ok because I got a true ressurection! Turns my stomach. :) Again, just my opinion, not necessarily a criticism of the story itself and certainly not intended as a flame.

We're all entitled our opinions. :) Personally, my group is enjoying the fact that they live in the lap of luxury even when traveling around the world. They got their fill of "roughing it" when they travelled into the mountains, forgot their cold weather gear, and decided they could just tough it out. Then the giant ran off with one of the food donkeys.

That's just by-the-book high-level D&D. Of course, I intend never to run a high-level by-the-book campaign. :D

I've been following it, and I find the massive magic (very different from my own games) quite entertaining. I'm quite impressed with how often the PCs are dying.

I've been following James' story for a while now, and there's been quite a growth in PC capabilities.

PS

I'll be the first to tell you that running a high-level by the book campaign is tough. Its very hard to find challenges for the group that aren't way over-powering. Also, at that level, foes can deal out incredibly dmage, as cann the characters. That means death comes fast and often, which is one reason why I feel you have to allow resurrection magic into a campaign at that point. Noone wants to lose a character permanently, much less lose one they've worked up from 1st to 15th level.

Oh yeah, and. . .

bump!

Updated the story with this week's game. Check it out if you're a fan of former party members turned vampire assassin. :)

Anyone with any ideas on where to head from here, fill me in! I was thinking of having the main villains of the Academy just allow the party to penetrate to the Tomb of Horrors, then ambushing them as they enter the main hallway (where the pit traps are).
