Storyline Help

I'm looking for some ideas to help flesh out a campaign I'm putting together for a group of friends.

I'm going to base the adventure in the Forgotten Realms and everyone is starting out as 2nd level characters. Basically the earned this level going from where ever they are from to the starting location which will be the city of Waterdeep.

I'll be using the module Barrows of the Forgotton King as a starting module as I flesh out more of the storyline.

But this module fits in perfect as it has Yuan-Ti in the module and this is one of the mani adversaries I want in the overall plot.

Here's what I have so far;
In the module the PC's come to one area which has a statue. So I'm adding additional info here
Statue found points East – Location of first book
Clues on base of statue will reveal this location

Near end of module Ghost of King Thurband talks to PC's. I'm going to change what he says, and the sword's meaning and powers
King Thurband
Replace “Kingmaker Sword” – with “Demon Slayer”
Forged by the Dwarves of ??? (Still coming up with this name)

Sword – Handed to PC’s by Ghost spirit of Forgotten King. Says to go to Citadel of ??? (dwarves from above to have sword re-forged)
+1 Adamanite Sword
+3 vs Explanar CE

This book mentioned will be 1 of 3 books. When the pocessor has all three books these books will merge into one book and reveal the true names of Demons.

Book 2 - Nothing yet on where abouts or anything

Book 3
Under base of a statue in center of small village.
Casting Divination spell shows life lines between statue and towns folk. Only way to get book is to destroy statue. In doing this you will kill all towns folk.

Reason Yuan-Ti are after it. They weren't actually, they where raiding the tombs and stumbled upon statue and ghost King. They learn about location of book but don't know it's true potential.

Once first book is found it has intelligence and once it detects a person with arcane abilities holding the book, this bearer will cast a spell using an unknown tongue. This set's up a link between the 3 books.

This language along with this Dwarven Citadel are centuries old and are lost to the folks of these times. Some to obtain this information is also part of the storyline.

Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Is there a main bad guy motivating the enemy escapades? You want Yuan-ti, sure but unless they know what the books do and have a use for them, they might as well be goblins, ya' know?
What if a fey'ri sor/rog has got book two and learns about the statue in the village. Assuming your PCs would protect the village how would they handle it when the jerk starts burning the burnables and enticing gnoll slavers to raid. And of course remember, the moment the statue explodes is the moment this part of the adventure is over, so for adventure fodder's sake, be sure the PCs get there first.
Does anyone in the party have any use for the truenames of demons? I assume you can summon a demon and completely dominate it with the truename. Would your PCs do that?
The sword is an intelligent adamantine evil outsider bane and is cool but what about the rest of the party that can't wield it at the same time? What do they get?
If the PCs get two of the books would a gang of Paladins eventually come after them if they don't immediately destroy the evil things? Funny, or would that wreck your story?
How about a mysterious collector who is willing to pay a million gold for all three together? Would your PC's sell something like this to a complete stranger? Might the collector try to assassinate the PCs if they refuse?
