What if the player wants to do a strafe and they don't have the feat?
Give them a -4 or something?
Just trying to head off at the pass what my players will no doubt do when we play.

Edit: As an aside, you do a square 10x10 area when you autofire, no burst feat required. You don't get to pick your 4 squares. The Strafe feat allows you to do 4 squares in a straight line. One may not strafe without that feat, period. Maybe I need to read a bit closer before answering questions.![]()
Ghost2020 said:Ok, lets assume they have the advanced firearms prof feat. What if they want to just strafe an area? It's going to happen, that a player will ask...do we slap on penalties (-4 or -8) or just flat out say 'no, ya can't do that' (which I think will not go over well).
I'd lean towards the penalty, maybe -6 or something like that. Telling a player that they fire on auto fire, and pull the gun to the left or right, it's impossible, that'll never fly. I'd rather let them try, and just penalize the crap out of them.
(ie: they simply do not have enough skill or practice to control the firearm).
Just a thought.
If a player wants to do a strafe without the feat, he ends up doing an autofire area attack (a large 10-by-10 square area).Ghost2020 said:So one can do a strafe (4 or so 5x5 areas) if they have the burst and strafe feat.

If a player wants to do a burst without the feat, he ends up doing a normal attack (1 round). The remaining rounds (4 or 2) are wasted.
