Strange, cheap dice at Five Below

Asmor

First Post
There's a chain store called Five Below where everything in the store is $5 or less. They stock a lot of assorted stuff, kind of like a step above a dollar store.

Anyways, the Five Below in the Liberty Tree Mall in Danvers, MA has a tub of polyhedral dice for a quarter a piece. The interesting thing is there are some really odd ones. Stopped their to pick up some candy for the new HP movie today, and I got...

Large d6 where all pips are Ks, the one is a giant K with a trademark symbol, and amusingly the three side basically reads KKK (amusing in the sense of unintended consequences).

Got three d6 with assorted emoticons, to wit:

Red d6 with

Blue d6 with

Black d6 with

Also got two six-siders which look like they each came from a board game.

One is large, wooden, rounded edges/corners, and large painted color spots for faces (blue, pink, orange, white, red, green).

The other is a normal d6, actually quite high quality, with colored symbols.
Green o with a tail, like the symbol for male/mars without the arrow.
Blue delta with a line capping it, kind of like |<
Orange triangle
Two small red circles connected with a short line
Blue square
Purple asterisk

My fiancée grabbed some of the standard stuff too, two d10s and a d6 that she thought were pretty.

I just find it weird that a store like this would carry polyhedral dice in the first place, and even odder that they'd actually have some neat, weird ones.

If you stop again, snap a pic, please. :)

Will if I think about it. It's been there for a while, so I don't think it's going away any time soon. Not much to see, though, just a large, plastic "fish bowl" style contained half-filled with dice.

Strange confluence of events--I stopped at the Five Below on Route 1 near Men's Wearhouse in Saugus (I was actually going to Men's Wearhouse) and was just looking through because I'd never been in a Five Below before. I stumbled across the dice area too. There were two plastic globes--one was just d6, with some strange ones like you noted mixed in with regular pips; and the other was polyhedrals, also standard and strange. I didn't see a price on it (you say 25 cents, which is nice to know now), so I just left with a tube of 5 straight d6 for $1.

Anybody know where I can get more polyhedral dice with no numbers on the like the three I found at GenCon last year? The swirls and sparkles and shapes make them great gemstones.
