Excellent first two episodes. The tempo is very good. Love the Crawl missions and how the team using the truck and the radio station. The army having a base, with Hamilton, in the Upside-down is rad.

I didn't do a catch up re-watch or anything, so the first episode didn't completely hook me back in. Felt like a lot of moving pieces around the board, setting up, although it was still well made. But, the second episode won me over, maybe it was more that it took me an episode to get back into the swing of things.

There were no sorcerer’s in 1987. 🤐
True, but were there even wizards? I thought they were called Magic Users. Then again, there was a list of titles for your magic user depending on what level they were and think sorcerer and wizard were on that list. I'm too lazy to get up off the couch and check.

Minor quibble. Clerics can't cast Dimension Door but I think Mike said that to comfort his sister.
Officialy in the core books, correct. However, I do recall reading something by Gygax outside the core books (defintiely outside the PHB) regarding Dungeon Masters tailoring clerics to specific deities in the campaign with things like modifying weapon proficiencies (including allowed certain edged weapons) if appropriate for a deity, I believe modifications to spell lists were also mentioned. I just don't recall if it was in Dragon, an article he wrote for another publication, or much later in a Q&A. Therefore, depending on when and where Gygax stated that, it is possible they saw it or, maybe, it was one of their house rules (putting aside that show doesn't strictly follow the official rules of the game at the the show takes place).

Giving her Holly the Hero was sweet.
Yeah, I thought the same thing.

Keep an eye out for young Will Byers - the actor is the child of one of my closest work buddies (and an occasionaly D&Der).
I thought young Will Byers looked completely CGI. I guess they had to have an actual person and just CGIed his face to look more like young Noah Schnapp's.

As an aside, I was born in late March 1981. Holly's fictional birthday is early October 1980, so she's about 6 months older than me. It's kinda cool but also kinda creepy that there's basically a character my age in this show. Like, seriously, if there was another sibling between Nancy (1967) and Mike (1971), the Wheelers would be my family. (There's an almost ten-year age gap between myself and my closest sibling, just like with Mike and Holly.) I even have a sibling with one of their names.
