View the source code on the bogus start page, it should have a <base> tag with an href= a bunch of encoded characters ( a series of &##), these are pointing to a dll in the system folder (for me thats C://winnt/system32). I don't recall the exact dll, so you may have to translate the code. But it was something like wsmj.dll . After I found that, I restarted in safe mode, renamed the dll and rebooted, the browser problem was solved but the pop-ups were still happening. I seearched the drive for dll created/modified on the same date and found one called se.dll . I renamed that file and everything seems fine now.Now I'm no expert on these things and futzing around with dlls can cause you no end of problems so I recomend renaming as opposed to deleting and then doing extensive tests in any applications you commonly use.</blockquote>
