This campaign sounds sweet. I am tiring of 3E campaigns that more resemble Powerpuff Girls than the epic fantasy literature of the 60's & 70's. Here are a couple ideas that I've worked out for an upcoming campaign, using standard info from non-3E sources (*) and my own deranged mind (**): * Use death from massive damage from d20 modern * Use Vitality Points/Wound Points from Star Wars d20 * Some source has "Armor as DR", but I don't know which (maybe Wheel of Time). * Use Base Attack and Saving Throw progressions as done in d20 Modern to 'fix' multiclassing ** Strictly control Prestige Classes ** Apply double the size modifiers as a penalty to Reflex saves and as a bonus to Fort Saves ** Double the size modifiers to AC, but add it as a bonus to damage. ** 'Fix' the frontloaded ranger (no, Monte's is more, not less powerful) ** Remove any classes that do not fit the flavor you want. It will make for gaps in party ability, which makes anything more difficult. I will be axeing clerics, paladins and monks. ** If you want lower magic, remove feats that create permanent items and force spellcasters to multi-class. Craft wand as a prerequisite for Craft Staff. Simple low magic. So there is the salad bar - pick and choose what fits for you. Hit up SHARK. He seems to run a much grittier and darker campaign than normal, and can probably give you good ideas from the experience end instead of the design end. -Fletch!
