Submitting a manuscript

Also bear in mind that the proposals Roger linked to above are for submitting things to Dragon and Dungeon magazines. You can't write a sourcebook and then pitch it to WotC in hopes that they'll buy it and release it as an official D&D product.

This.

Successfully pitching article proposals to Dragon or Dungeon online is a good way to get WotC's attention. But there's no system in place to submit an idea or a manuscript to WotC itself. If they like what they see of your writing (in the online magazines, or perhaps from other D20 companies), you can then try to see if you can get into their pool of hired freelancers. Once there, though, you work on the books they ask you to, not your own material.

Thank you very much!

That was exactly what I was thinking of. - I have nothing at hand that I could submit them (except a rather humorous petition to republish the Mentzer boxes), but I had grown curious.
- Indeed it seems that working for WotC is something one cannot apply for. :)

I might send something to the new digital Dungeon next year, though, if I find the time to compile some of my notes. (And find someone who can help convert my oldschool stuff for the new edition.)

Again, many thanks! :)

:) Hi!

Now that is indeed an idea I hadn't considered!
I had gained the impression that KQ was indeed a mag reserved for developers,
but if they can use stuff from a noob like me, I'lll gladly send it to them. :)

Rafael, did you also consider sending to Wolfgang Baur's Kobold Quarterly?
Has KQ opened up to general submissions yet? I thought it was only taking submissions from Open Design patrons and, like Ivid said, credited designers.
