Subsequent Star Wars Saga Books?

They mentioned at Celebration IV that an 'Old Era' (KotOR/Tales of the Jedi) book is in the works.

There was also an Antagonists book mentioned. I imagine a combination of NPCs, monsters and other threats.

Force Unleashed Campaign Guide:11/2007
The Emperor has swept away the last vestiges of the Old Republic. Darth Vader and his dark apprentice hunt down the surviving Jedi one by one, but a few escape capture and find refuge on backwater worlds. Fewer still reach deep into the Force, unleashing powers beyond their wildest imaginings. Meanwhile, other brave heroes rise to oppose the tyranny of the Empire, heralding the birth of the Rebellion.

This campaign guide draws its inspiration from The Force Unleashed, a revolutionary new video game from Lucasfilm, Ltd. It presents a complete campaign setting during the period between Episode III: Revenge of the Sith and Episode IV: A New Hope. The guide offers exciting new character options and Force powers for players as well as adventure content, campaign seeds, and ready-to-play adversaries for Gamemasters.
If the videogame is going to be delayed until next year, wouldn't it be more prudent to release something other than the above book (which is based on said delayed videogame)?

I nominate KOTOR.

I just hate that we have to wait so darn long for these books.

They better be working on new versions of the Galactic Campaign Guide and the Hero's Guide as these were, IMO, the two best written sourcebooks for the RCR and I don't wanna pay 60$ for each. :)

And they better be working on a new, updated version of a Force Users Guide of some sort, giving us more Force Traditions and powers and talents and more generic use applications of the Force, and how each of these can possibly be applied to different eras.

And they better be working on a new, updated book of the different eras, and definately updated stuff for the New Jedi Order era and Legacy of the Force era, or even the Legacy era from the comic book... and KOTOR of course. Personally, this one should be the first release and it should be soon, not a fricken year out (guessing).

And the GM Screen and Character sheets should be released within a month of the main book, not 8 months afterwards. That's just stupid and bad.

Unfortunately, they don't want to put the minis line on hiatus and released all RPG product this year. It would pissed off the overwhelming number of SWM fans (the odds are against the roleplayers 5-to-1).

It's indeed indicated in the Saga rulebook, Chapter "Eras of Play" that eras other than the main three (Empire Rising, Rebellion, New Republic) will have dedicated supplements, including eras of computer games like KOTOR.

I can't wait for the Force Unleashed sourcebook, specifically.

Yeah yeah, I know. It sucks for us rpgers.

I just don't know why they can't get an agreement for more rpg books and keep the minis line... after all, it would only boost their profits in the long run, right?

Heck, even if they just wrote pdf only books, and in black and white instead of everything being in color, I'd go for that.

I thought the license was for at least X products a year. It seems strange to me that they would have a cap, especially considering the number of RPG products announced for next year. The delay is simply due to the late adoption of the designer and decision to support the main book.

Yeah, I know. I just hate having to wait for these products when I want them sooooo soon. :)

I mean, WEG was able to release one to two star wars books a month when they had the license. I miss the good ole days. :sigh:

While Lucas was touted as a good businessman in the good ole days, he didn't pay much attention to the RPG market at the time. Because of his ignorance, WEG got the license cheap.

Also one of the reasons why there's not a whole lot of SECR products for '07 is the line didn't have a manager until Rodney was hired earlier this year, by which point WotC likely had 2007 planned out. Also, they had to get the base rules down and finalized before they could start working future sourcebooks, further adding to the delay.

Not saying I'm happy about it, but it is what it is.
