I typically use D20Books.com. I can buy books from anybody. But, Jeff is available online where I can IM him. I can tell him about needs that I am trying to fill and he will tell me what books are good for those niches. I can also ask him about his opinions on products and he will share them. I can tell him about my games and he can make suggestions. You know, all the good stuff that you get from a good Friendly Local Game Store. Unfortunately, any of the Local Game Stores I walk into are poorly educated on the product and sometimes have trouble doing more than pointing me toward the shelf. Selection is haphazard at best, though they do have the firm rallying cry of "We can special order it". Sure they can, if you can provide the product number and probably the publisher as well. And it will usually arrive within two weeks. Then, if they kept good track of it, you might get a call that the product arrived. And, they might not sell it to anyone else that asks before you get to the store. *blech* Whatever happened to customer service? I get better customer service from a guy I can't see in another state. Don't get me wrong, that is a good reflection on Jeff at D20Books. It's just a poor reflection on my experiences with my LGS. This is not to say that other people don't have FLGS's. Nor is it to imply that D20books is the only online store that has good customer service. I have just had several good experiences with them over the past year and I am happy to keep doing business with them.
