Summon Monster ?'s

Doing the best imitation of myself
Hi everyone...a question about Summon Monster that came up in the last game I ran.

Assuming you summon a creature such as a lantern archon who has a beneficial spell-like abilities like aid or continual flame, by the RAW what happens after the summoned creature leaves? Do the results stay around? I thought that I had read both a RAW and FAQ answer saying they went away after the creature left--assuming the effects had a duration other than instantaneous.

So what does it say, and/or what do you think about this?

They go away at the end of the summoning.

Summoning
A summoning spell instantly brings a creature or object to a place you designate. When the spell ends or is dispelled, a summoned creature is instantly sent back to where it came from, but a summoned object is not sent back unless the spell description specifically indicates this. A summoned creature also goes away if it is killed or if its hit points drop to 0 or lower. It is not really dead. It takes 24 hours for the creature to reform, during which time it can’t be summoned again.

When the spell that summoned a creature ends and the creature disappears, all the spells it has cast expire. A summoned creature cannot use any innate summoning abilities it may have, and it refuses to cast any spells that would cost it XP, or to use any spell-like abilities that would cost XP if they were spells.

Thanks! That's what I thought, but I wanted to get some clarification. Has there been any additional info added or changed in the FAQ?

The only thing to note is that instananeous effects *don't* go away - so if you are healed by a summoned creature, that is OK; if it creates a wall of stone for you, that is OK

I'd say that falls under "Usually, a spell-like ability works just like the spell of that name."
