Combatant size matters, with a +4/size category going to the larger one. Does WEapon size matter at all? Ex. I'm using a Monkeygripped Greatsword, so it's actually a Large weapon, instead of a normal Greatsword (medium weapon). The WEAPON size seems to be the real factor in the size of the opposizing forces, but the the rules pretty much say combatant size. Am I just nuts for thinking this should work a little differently? Note that a Large creature using a Large longsword would still get the benefit for being large, but why should a Huge giant get a bonus for using a Small longsword (if they can even use it)?

Well, your large size weapon will have more hit points and will do more damage, but other than that, no.

I think the extra HP and Damage ARE the adjustment in this case.

That said, as a DM I would probably say that you get a +2 to sunder, and a –2 to resist sundering (That’s a big unwieldy sword; powerful, but hard to get out of the way). Maybe the same adjustments with disarm also.

It's considered a two-handed weapon for you, so you get a +4 bonus. It's the same bonus you'd get if you were using a Medium greatsword, though.

Note that a Large creature using a Large longsword would still get the benefit for being large...

A Large creature using a Large longword (one-handed weapon) gets a +4 bonus, relative to a Medium creature, for being one size category larger (as a creature).

A Medium creature using a Large longsword (two-handed weapon, by the inappropriate size rules) gets a +4 bonus for wielding a two-handed weapon.

A Medium creature with the Monkey Grip feat wielding a Large longsword (one-handed weapon, by the text of the feat) gets no bonus, since he is not larger than his opponent (assuming a Medium opponent), and he is not wielding a two-handed weapon. (He'd also take the normal Monkey Grip -2 penalty on his opposed attack roll.)

but why should a Huge giant get a bonus for using a Small longsword (if they can even use it)?

He can't use it - it's too small. He could use a Medium Greatsword as a Light weapon. Since it's a Light weapon for him, he'd take a -4 penalty... but against a Medium creature, he'd also get a +8 bonus for being a creature two sizes larger.

-4+8= +4 = same amount a Greatsword gets if a medium creature is using it. The way these bonuses/minuses cancel out, it looks like they work out more to a system where the bonus is based on weapon size. I realize this is not the letter of the rules, don't get me wrong, I didn't mean that in my original post, but I'm analyzing the idea.

Large creature using a Medium Longsword: +4-4= +0 "Longsword bonus" aka "medium one-handed weapon bonus"

Large creature using Medium Greatsword: +4 "Greatsword bonus" aka "medium two-handed weapon bonus"

Small creature using Medium Longsword: -4+4= +0 same "longsword bonus"

Small creature using Small Longsword: -4 "Small one-handed weapon bonus"

Medium creature using Small Longsword: -4 "Small one-handed weapon bonus"

Does anyone else see the effect as I do? Generally speaking this is just nifty and has no implication other than mayhaps streamlining bonuses. However, since Monkey Grip throws a Monkey Wrench into everything...

Large Creature using Large Greatsword: +4+4= +8 "Large Two-handed weapon bonus"

Medium Creature using Medium Greatsword: +4 "Medium Two-handed weapon bonus"

MONKEY GRIP WACKEDNESS:
Medium Creature using Large Greatsword: +8 "Large Two-handed Weapon Bonus" (-2 because of Monkey Grip for +6)

Outside of Monkey Grip, is there a combination of weapon and wielder sizes that does NOT indicate fixed values for each size of weapon?

That's about it.

But remember, in a way, with Monkey Grip, you're deliberately treating the weapon as if it's a Medium greatsword, not a Large greatsword.

So the fact that your bonus on opposed Sunder and Disarm checks in the same as if you were using a Medium greatsword is not unusual.
