The actual rules for breaking a shield or weapon only require an enhancement bonus. Does this mean an admantine bastardsword which grants a natural +2 enhancement bonus can break a longsword +1?

I still haven't found the feat/enchantment/special ability that I'm thinking of.

Shatterspike (The Sunless Citadel) does that, double damage when sundering.

EDIT: My mistake. Shatterspike gets bonus damage when sundering, but not double damage)

Improved Sunder is in Enemies and Allies...

You mean the feat from S&F? It also deals double damage when you strike a weapon.

But I could have sworn I'd seen a feat or some mechanic that when employed allowed you to do double damage for the purposes of sundering.

Yup. Improved Sunder from S&F.

Nope, seems to be working. I guess it's just another instance of them not noticing when WotC publishes two feats with the same name and one gets overwritten.

Apparently there's also an improved sunder feat in enemies and allies, though more likely it's just a reprint of the sword and fist feat.

Yup. In fact, it even has a little blurb stating that it originally appeared in S&F.
